Mosley Beats Collazo in Return to 147
- written February 11th, 2007 by Aaron S. Bayley

"Sugar" Shane Mosley dominated Luis Collazo and won a unanimous decision in his return to the welterweight division at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas last night. Judges scored the bout 119-108 and 118-109 (twice).

Mosley was troubled by Collazo's southpaw style in the earlier rounds, but dominated most of the fight, landing combinations and even knocking down the Brooklyn-based fighter in the 11th round. While Collazo was no walkover for Mosley, he did not live up to the "dangerous opponent" label he was being tagged with by critics. Instead, Molsey-Collazo resembled the David Estrada and Jose Luis Cruz fights, both of which Mosley dominated in convincing fashion.

Mosley, 44-4 (37), plans to stay active and hopefully fight again in June, perhaps against a Mayweather who by that time will have already fought (beaten?) De La Hoya. Collazo falls to 27-3 (13) with the loss.
