I dreamt of a Mermaid, among other things
Like kettle-cooked chips and onion rings
Catfish and scallops lightly battered
Lobster and crab and your head on a platter
A sample of your brains from a petri dish
The scent of a woman, a suspicion of fish
I cast you back to the sea once more
Where you sank right down to the ocean floor
And stole a pearl from an Oyster's shell
To use as a bargaining chip in Hell
Then I dived to the bottom to witness this sham
But all I found was your carcass and an empty clam
So I ripped off your fins and lined my pockets
As eels swam out of your empty eye sockets
I surfaced with thoughts of a myth and a womb
And left you there in your watery tomb
So whenever your voice inside my head sings
I dream of a Mermaid, among other things
